Jesus loves little children

Jesus loves little children

Did you know that Jesus loves children?

Many adults feel children are always in the way or needing attention. They treat children like a nuisance and a burden. They don’t seem to like children much. Jesus’ disciples tried to keep the children away from Jesus because they thought the children would be wasting His time. But when Jesus found out, He actually got angry with His disciples! He welcomed the children to Him and prayed for them.

Jesus said that if we want to be a part of His kingdom, then we need to become like little children. Children are ready to receive God’s kingdom. They aren’t so focused on material possessions like houses, cars and money. They don’t place the value of life in what they have. For them the only valuable thing is joy in playing games. We need to learn to be like to children: to place value not in what we have on earth but in the joy of God’s kingdom.

Children are humble and free to receive God’s kingdom. They don’t hold onto their prejudices and their ideas of how the world should work, but they are ready to learn. They don’t hold onto grudges and unforgiveness. They forgive freely and trust easily.

To receive God’s Life, we need to let go of our own life.

Jesus loves little children

Mark 10:13-16 (ESV)

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.  Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

Who can give me living water?

John 7:37-39 (ESV)
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this He said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Who can give me living water?

Who can give me living water?

One day Jesus was sitting next to a well and a Samaritan woman came to get water. He asked her for a drink because it was very hot. She was surprised that He spoke to her, because Jews didn’t speak to Samaritans, but Jesus told her that in fact she should be the one to speak to Him. He said that she should ask Him for water. This surprised her because He didn’t have anything to draw water from the well with. But Jesus explained that the water He promised to give her wasn’t literal water. When we drink physical water, we get thirsty again, but Jesus said that if we drink the living water that He gives, we will never be thirsty again! This living water becomes a well within us, giving us eternal life.

Jesus was a prophet and He knew what was happening in the woman’s life. He asked her to bring her husband, and when she said that she had no husband, He replied, “You are right, for you have had five husbands and the one you now have is not your husband.” He knew that the woman was broken inside from being rejected by five husbands; she was empty and was thirsty for true love, not like the love of men, which often fails and rejects us. This is why Jesus promised to give her living water.

Are you broken and empty inside? Are you thirsty for true love and true life? Are you thirsty for living water?

Am I loved?

Am I loved? In this world, this is a question we all ask many times. Lots of us have been hurt by those closest to us, by fathers or mothers or brothers or sisters or friends. We feel lonely and unloved. Sometimes we even feel that we aren’t good enough to be loved by anyone.

In The Book, God tells us that He loves us – yes, every single one of us! It doesn’t matter whether you are old or young, male or female, what people you are descended from, or even what mistakes you have made in your life. In fact, God says that He loves even sinners. We don’t have to do anything to earn this love – He gives it to us freely like a gift. He even promises to wipe away all our sins and make us completely clean.

The only thing we must do is receive this gift by believing in Jesus Christ.

Am I loved?

Romans 5:7-9 (ESV)

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
